An Adventure in Art...

Hello! My name is Brenda Sosa and I am the K-2 Hartford elementary art teacher for the West Central School District. For over eighteen years I have been teaching art at all levels from toddler to adult. My goal is to expose the students in my classroom to a variety of artists and techniques, but also encourage creativity and critical thinking.

The great honor of West Central's Teacher of the Year was bestowed upon me in March 2014. Although greatly honored, I am also humbled for I work with incredible and amazing staff who are also very deserving of this great award.

My Favorite Quotes

"Art shouldn't be something that you go quietly into an art gallery and dip your forelock and say 'I have to be very quiet, I'm in here amongst the art.' It's here, art's everywhere. It's how you use your eyes. It's about the enjoyment of visual things. And it's certainly not for any one group of people." Ken Done.

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up!" Pablo Picasso.

"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep." Scott Adams.
